SUMMARY:Managing Risks in Beekeeping: Understanding the Apiculture Rainfall Index Insurance Program
DESCRIPTION:Apiculture Rainfall Index Insurance (API) is a relatively new insurance product offered by the USDA Risk Management Agency. API is meant to insure beekeeping operations against lower-than-average rainfall which could decrease honey production and/or affect colony health. This webinar will explore API as a potential risk management tool for beekeeping operations of all sizes—from hobbyist to commercial. Attendees will gain insights into how API differs from traditional yield and revenue crop insurance policies and how to evaluate policy decisions\, such as the coverage level and the time of year to insure.
