Count Down to the Northwestern Agricultural Research Center Field Day
Preparations are underway for the 32nd Annual University of Illinois’ Northwestern Agricultural Research Center Field Day. The program will begin at 8 am on Wednesday, July 17th.
Buses will carry members of the public to different stops in the research center where specialists from the University of Illinois’ Department of Crop Sciences or Extension personnel will present their most current crop and pest management research and recommendations.

Identification and management of Goss’s wilt of corn – Carl Bradley
Western Corn Rootworm Resistance to Bt: A Growing Threat? – Mike Gray
Palmer Amaranth: Will it Adapt to West-Central Illinois? – Aaron Hager
Does Changing Crop Rotations Make Sense? – Emerson Nafziger
Agronomic and Environmental Assessment of Cover Crops – Angie Peltier
This year, in addition to the in-field discussion of Western corn rootworm, producers are encouraged to bring corn roots for free corn rootworm root injury ratings. Injury ratings will facilitate discussions about current and future management strategies.
The Northwestern Illinois Agricultural Research and Demonstration Center is a 320 acre facility, established in 1980, 1 mile North and 4 miles West of Monmouth at 321 210th Avenue. Each year, more than 50 different projects are conducted by up to 12 campus-based project leaders and the center superintendent.
