Weed Science Field Research Tour, Wednesday, June 24 in Champaign
The weed science program at the University of Illinois invites all weed management practitioners to our annual weed science field tour on Wednesday, June 24, at the Department of Crop Sciences field research location known as the Clem Farm, located at 1114 County Road 1200 East, Champaign. Our record breaking severe weather year rolled on this week. Temperatures were mild for mid-June, ranging from the mid-60s in northern Illinois to the mid-70s in southern Illinois, between 1 and 3 degrees below normal. A couple of the more impressive nighttime low temperatures this week included 45 degrees in Danville and 47 in Lisle. Despite the recent cooldown, June to date has been 1 to 3 degrees warmer than normal so far.…

After the multiple severe storms over the past week in LaSalle County, field conditions are severely wet. There is a wide range of conditions, with well-drained fields looking fantastic and healthy. These are the exception, though. There are far more fields with large areas of standing water that have been present for over a week.…
